American whistleblower could receive $5 million settlement from IT giant

The former American employee of Infosys, who had brought a whistleblower claim against the IT giant could receive about $5 million in a settlement.

Jay Palmer had filed the claim in America in February 2011, saying that he had been sidelined and excluded by Infosys executives after he reported witnessing widespread visa fraud.

While he lost his case last year, it initiated an investigation into Infosys' visa procedures. Palmer said that the initial claim has continued to effect his working relationship ever since. It was reported that he has remained an employee but has not been assigned any work or spoken to anyone within the company for months.

The second largest software exporter in India has agreed to pay $34 million US dollars to settle the resulting visa row including the employees $5 million settlement.

A story from earlier this year.
